Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS)
The HSI Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program provides teenagers and young adults with the foundation and skills needed for safe and successful babysitting. The CABS program teaches how to start a babysitting business, interact with parents and children alike, and provides important safety and first aid information using the latest guidelines.

This is a certification class, valid for two (2) years from month of issue

CABS certification is not a substitute for pediatric CPR, AED, or first aid training. HSTC recommends these certifications be sought separately

Teens and young adults that are interested in starting a babysitting business, or have a responsibility to care for younger family members.

Evaluation of the core knowledge objective is evaluated through informal observation and questions throughout the training session.
Students must perform a skills assessment, competently and without assistance
Available, but not required unless mandated by a state regulation or organizational policy

Certification Period
Two (2) years from month of issue
Minimum / Maximum Class Size
Minimum of two students required, student to instructor maximum ratio 12:1
Class Duration
approx. 4-6 hours dependent on class size -- Instructor will focus on class completion and understanding of topics rather than completion timing.
Class Cost
$50 per student*
* Additional fees such as booking (If HSTC needs to book a space for the training event), or mileage may apply. This will be discussed during the booking process.
